Easter is coming! And at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto, we are planning a whole bunch of meaningful worship services for this Holy Season. Our Lenten journeys have led us through some challenging times, and challenging ideas about our faith. But in Eastertide, we come again to the ideas that led us to the Divine. Palm Sunday is April 13, as we begin Holy Week, and our journey to Easter.
But before we get to Easter, we will have our Good Friday Service on April 18, at 7 PM. In music and word, we will remember Jesus arrested and crucified. Did it have to be that way? Let’s reflect on that, as well as on the very real challenges and injustices in our world, and that Good Friday is NOT the end of the story!
On Easter Sunday, April 20, we will begin our day with our annual Easter Sunrise Service on the Lake Shore, at Ashbridges Bay. We will meet in the Woodbine Beach parking lot at 5:45 AM, then proceed out to the point to hear the Easter Story and break bread together and watch the sunrise! Those who wish may join together afterwards at the Sunset Grill (2006 Queen Street East) for breakfast. You can find the location on Google Maps!
At 11 AM, we will gather back at MCC Toronto for our incredibly joyful celebration of Easter. As always, the music, the pageantry and the word will be awesome! Come join us to listen, and sing the eternal Easter story!
All of the services at the church will be livestreamed, and we’ll share the links in an upcoming issue of The Query.
