Being Still in Our
Busy World Through Meditation ASE-1340
In a world of tweets, texts and instant messaging, it's difficult to find
stillness in our busy world. Weapons of mass distraction surround us and we
get caught up in doing, rather than being. In this eight-week course you
will learn simple, meditative tools to help you bring stillness or
mindfulness into your daily life. By learning to be still, you connect to
your Source - a place of love, peace and joy - a place where creativity
abides - a place of energy. Learn to be still and live more abundantly.

Sexuality and Spirituality
Retreat Weekend – Living Into God’s Finest Gift ASE 1320
This intensive retreat explores how we can
live into one of God’s finest gifts – our sexuality. Through discussion,
guided meditations and multiple activities participants will explore
opportunities to release negative and harmful beliefs about our bodies and
our sexuality as they relate to our spiritual growth. We will discover how
religion, and ‘sacred texts,’ (including the Bible), can be applied in a
healthy and wholesome manner, assisting us as we embrace our whole selves as
sexual beings. This seminar is intentionally inclusive for people of all
gender identities as you will be invited to identify yourself first as a
person in and of God’s love, and not as separated from God or each other by
your chosen gender or sexual identity.

Praying the Rainbow
Rosary ASE 1360
This short 2 session interactive seminar is an
opportunity to explore a new way to pray/meditate using prayer beads.
Although the rosary (a series of beads which one uses to pray
systematically) is from the Catholic tradition, you do not need not a
Catholic background for this experience. In this seminar we will learn
various ways in which we can claim this experience as our own, and reflect
our inclusive belief of a loving God for all peoples. Bring your rosary or
prayer beads if you own any. We will talk about ways to make our own
personal prayer beads/rosary. We may be able to supply some (possibly at a
small additional charge) for participants.

Beloved Disciples: An Overview of the Gospel
according to John ASE 1370
The Gospel of John is so very different from the
Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke). How and why is that? In this
course, we will look at John through a progressive Christian lens and find
strange and wonderful things in it, like: messages of abundant life for the
poor, the weak, the physically challenged; a community of friends for women
and sexual minorities; and subversion of literalism and the law. Alas, in
this brief overview, we can barely touch John’s depth, but you will be left
with tools and questions to take you deeper.

Rediscovering Communion – A Gospel-based
examination of the roots of MCC’s Communion Liturgy ASE 1080
In this course Tom Decker will invite participants to engage in a dialogue
with the earliest Christian communities.
Their interpretation
of the events as they built their early communities centred around their
belief in the resurrection of Christ.
This belief found expression in
words, deeds, and symbols. 2000 years later, these ancient words, deeds,
and symbols continue to invite us into theological reflection about who
Jesus is. In four two-hour sessions, participants will be introduced to
varied theological perspectives, and asked to individually engage and
dialogue in community regarding the following four questions, one per
session:
* What does the resurrection mean?
* Who is Jesus for me?
* How does my faith find expression?
* How central is “community” in my belief system?
Dates: Wednesdays, May
12, 19 & 26, & June 2
Time:
6:45 - 8:45 pm
Tuition: $40.00 for
the four-session series
